This Silence Kills
Released: November 2011

There are times when I get introduced to a musician or band that I become completely captivated by and I listen to continuously for hours on end.  Born in Brazil but now based in Germany, Dillon is this wonderful musician I stumbled upon in search for new music and she has captured my attention.  The sweet song “Thirteen Thirtyfive” started the infatuation and I knew I had to listen to the rest of her album, This Silence Kills right away.  This album is so interesting to me because I don’t feel a sense of cohesion throughout but it is so multi-faceted that makes it so special.  Dillon’s child-like vocals and piano playing are the underlying layers to each song and isn’t covered by anything complicated but is accented by simple yet beautiful instrumentation.  Towards the end of the album the songs become more experimental and introduce more electronic sounds.  Dillon recently posted a cover on her Youtube channel of City and Colour’s song “As Much as I Ever Could” and it is wonderful. I also posted the video for “Tip Tapping”, which was produced and directed by Dillon herself. Take a minute or two to listen to Dillon and enjoy the simplistic beauty of her music.
