Show Review- The Kills
4/23/11 – Masquerade
The Entrance Band was up first on the Heaven stage at The Masquerade. This three piece brought their psychedelic rock sound to Atlanta. I love when musicians get into the music they are creating on stage and their female bassist was doing just that. They had great energy and put on a killer set.
Cold Cave played next and they are an electro pop band from New York. They were fun and easy to groove to but not something I listen to a lot.
Next the main event: The Kills. As soon as they set foot on the stage and the crowd screamed I knew something great was about to happen. For only two people, Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince have great musical chemistry and were so engaging on stage. Hince plays that guitar so loud and gritty it made me believe that rock and roll is not dead. Alison played guitar and the drums throughout the night as well. Many songs off their new album ‘Blood Pressures’ were featured and they sound so good live. I was literally still hyped from the show the next day. Perfect night.
