Book Club
Show Review
529 Venue – December 3, 2011
I have seen Book Club live three times this year and each time was a special experience to me. Since the release of their album ‘Ghost’ I have been a devoted fan and seeing them perform live is like watching words magically come to life from the pages of a book. ‘Ghost’ is such a masterpiece and hearing songs from the album live is just as lovely. This time around at 529 there were less musicians on stage but the sound was not compromised. I hate to admit it but I almost got emotional when they played “Love Like Parachutes” which is a live track off their EP Live on AM1690. I highly recommend giving it a listen and downloading this EP for free below. “Love Like Parachutes” is so memorable because of the hauntingly beautiful cello and the words “When we were in love” softly sung followed by the chanting of “You could tell us nothing!” Incredible, I tell you. Don’t hesitate to see Book Club live, it will be an occasion you will surely never forget. You can catch them next month for the Holiday Hangover party at the Star Bar. They will be playing, along with Back Pockets and El Fossil.
