Cass McCombs, California native, stopped in Atlanta on his tour and I’m glad I attended.  McCombs was accompanied by his full band including keys and the occasional pedal steel guitar.  The stage at The Earl was barely lit and the set started off mellow with McCombs playing acoustic guitar. Although it is winter, I could feel the warmth in Cass McCombs’ music radiating like the California sun.  By the time he switched to electric guitar for “The Same Thing”, that is when the room came alive.  Cass McCombs lyrics are honest, each song is carefully constructed, and are perfect to listen to live. An aspect I absolutely love about live music is when the artist lets loose and really show the passion they have for their music and this happened during Cass McCombs performing with his electric guitar.   Even though there wasn’t much interaction with the crowd there was still a connection between the band and the fans.  Take to time to listen to Cass McCombs’ music; I am thoroughly glad I did.
