Another great night was had by all at the Earl last Tuesday, March 27th, and a huge thank you goes to the Earl, the Atlanta Music Roundtable, Nigredo, Lucy Dreams, and The Electric Nature. Nights like these are why I love music and continue to support Atlanta music.
Nigredo provided an extra special set like nothing I have ever seen before. Refer to pro photos and a sweet video from OhmPark and Latest Disgrace: here, here, and here. I was expecting the normal breathtaking performance that I’m used to seeing and hearing by them but I received so much more. I left feeling uncomfortable yet incredibly alive. Nigredo utilized both stages and had us all wondering what was going on behind the white walls they had placed in front. During most of their set, all that was visible were the band member’s silhouettes surrounded by warm red light. Whenever the music would escalate they would shine bright white lights which was perfectly fitting for the rush of sound the band created. The barrier between band and audience was a whole new feeling to me. I’m so used to relying on actually seeing the band and feeding off of their energy. This is where uncomfortable came into play and was something I was completely not used to but it made it that much more exciting. I couldn’t help but take a peak at the side of the stage just to see the band, even for a minute. I had to. We are so lucky to have Nigredo in our great city of Atlanta and if you haven’t seen them live before, GO SEE THEM LIVE. Seriously, you won’t regret it.
