Listen to The Cradle-Deluxe Edition

Colour Revolt
on Tour with Taking Back Sunday & Thursday *Sold Out
Centerstage – July 13, 2011

I might as well go ahead and start by saying I was surprised to see Colour Revolt going on tour with Thursday and Taking Back Sunday.  I wasn’t sure if it would be the right combination musically but I know better than to make such a ridiculous assumption.  The line up was great for the fans and musicians alike and it gave everyone a chance to be exposed to different styles of music they haven’t heard before.  Colour Revolt is an indie rock band from Mississippi and since their release of ‘The Cradle’ I have been a huge fan and I wish I would have known about them sooner. The first time I saw them live was at the smallest stage in the same building at the Vinyl earlier this year and I knew I couldn’t miss seeing them at Centerstage.  This venue is one of the best venues in Atlanta to really enjoy and experience live music because of the sound and production value.

I was drawn to Colour Revolt because of their relatable lyrics and the strong emotion in each and every song.  They collectively as a band work so well together and are very talented. Their music portrays the hardships of being in a band and also about real honest relationships in their lives which translates very well on stage.  Front man Jesse has vocals that can be gut wrenching but also so subtle that you can feel the passion in every line.  Some of their tracks like “Mona Lisa” and “8 Years” are so guitar heavy and in your face and they sound so powerful live.  Then they also played songs like “Our Names” and “Mattresses Underwater” where you are taken back by how soft and beautiful the instrumentals are. Even when Thursday came on stage, their lead vocalist Geoff Rickly expressed how big of a fan he was of Colour Revolt.  Make sure to catch a live show and check out the Deluxe Edition of Colour Revolt’s latest release ‘The Cradle’.
