Music is such a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember and going to live shows feeds the addiction. I have a lot of friends that share the same interests as me when it comes to music but sometimes our tastes differ. That is when I resort to going to shows alone. People can have different views on me doing so. For instance some people say it’s not safe especially in Atlanta. However I don’t let my lack of companionship stop me from seeing my favorite bands or checking out bands I’ve never heard seen before. When you go to a show by yourself it’s a completely different experience in the best way possible. I see going to shows as a way to connect with the music and the musicians and not just because it’s the cool thing to do. I meet so many new and interesting people who share my love for the band on stage or even just music in general. I have also met some not so interesting people but that’s a whole other story. I feel like I am able to enjoy the music even more because there are no distractions or fears of what the people around me are thinking. It’s just me and the music. So don’t knock it ’til you try it. It opened a great deal of opportunities for me and helped me appreciate music even more.
**I don’t know many people that go to shows alone. Do you go solo or know someone who does? Thoughts?
